Backpacking to Burnt Lake

We decided to try a one-night backpacking trip as a family to one of our favorite spots. We were sure that Jack would not sleep well away from his crib and the comforts of home, but we were pleasantly surprised- he slept for 12 hours!!! It must have been all that great mountain air. Here are a few shots from our trip. The first is Macy trying to get out of the lake over a huge log- she refused to swim 5 feet to her left to go around it until Ben went over to show her how (but really, she's usually very smart!). The middle pictures are of us having fun in the tent, which we spent a lot of time doing (who knew camping cups and spoons, the headlamp and the cards in Ben's wallet would keep Jack entertained for hours). The last picture is the day we hiked out- our shoulders were pretty sore (and Macy has demon dog eyes).



Overall, it was a great trip. We may have to head back to the mountains again this weekend- it's over 100 degrees here- too hot for clothes!!!
