A Busy Summer

Henry is 13 weeks old now- I can't believe how time flies! He's doing all those adorable baby things like smiling and cooing and, occasionally, sleeping through the night. He smiles easily for everyone but I think he likes his big brother best!

This top picture shows Henry wearing a Mr. Potato Head hat that Jack put on him because it was "hat time". The second picture is Henry and Jack laying under Henry's play gym- Jack often joins him under the singing, blinking star. The third is the three Austin men relaxing in the back yard.

Grandpa came to visit in July to meet his new grandson and spend some quality time with Jack.Here are Jack and Larissa at Larissa's birthday dinner.And here we are hiking with the kids on the 4th of July in Bend. Unfortunately, you can't see Henry, but he's there!Even though it required two twelve-hour road trips, we went to Gardnerville to visit Heather's family and the Austin Ranch in California to see Ben's family. This was the first stop on the road trip to Nevada. Jack climbed in Henry's car seat while I was nursing Henry in a parking lot and sucked on Henry's pacifier.

Once in Nevada, Grandma treated us to a ride on the Virginia & Truckee railroad. Jack loved it until the train got "robbed" and the sheriff shot the robbers. We had to keep watching them as the train pulled away so he could see that they were still alive!
The first of Jack's four birthday celebrations was at Pat and Chuck's house in Gardnerville.Here's a picture of Ben and his dad as they headed out for fishing at the ranch. And here's Jack with Uncle Chell at the barn.
Jack got to spend some much needed quality time with his Uncle Jeremy- we hadn't seen him since January!Here is Jack's third birthday celebration. The second was earlier in the week at the ranch, shared with his cousin CJ.On Jack's actual birthday, we went for a horseback ride. Jack loved riding on Hank with Daddy!Here's Bapa wrangling his two cowboys.Unfortunately Jack got sick on his birthday. Here is a picture of him laying on the couch in the Caretaker's house the next day- he spent most of the day there.

He still wasn't feeling all that well on the way home, but since I got the shot on the way down, I thought I would book-end it with the shot on the way home (notice he's in his own seat and not mischievous enough to have climbed into Henry's).
